Its about this Music

So I am heading home back to NYC for a while so Im going to do a post to keep you occupied while I am gone. Well "you" is really my #1 fan Justin (aka Meatwad) but you few others who check this site, its for you to.
First of all I would like to address something which has come to my attention through a few disgruntled emails I have received regarding my postings. There seems to be a problem among the internet community about my postings of already "blogged" songs....I am sorry if this upsets some of you, but my site is about songs that I am into, which most likely will be songs other people will be into. And I also post things I want my friends to hear. The only people I am trying not to offend are the artists and the labels (which I have yet to received complaints from anyway). So anyone I upset by treding on your feet, Im sorry.
And on that note Im going to post the fuck out of a bunch of shit Im feeling today.
Im really into parties. Not necessarily "partying" but the environment in which a party is taking place. If anyone hasnt seen the film "Maestro", please do. It is regarding the unerground dance culture that was the Paradise Garage and the Loft in 1980s New York City. Parties back than were not what they were today. They were not places to be seen and talked about, but rather places to be yourself. Places to let yourself go.
Do We Offend You? Yeah! - We Are Rockstars
Basically the exact opposite of what they are today I guess. But I know the jumpoffs are still going on, they just need to be found.
People are getting sweaty and crazy and smashing against the walls and reaching for the ceilings in someones loft, warehouse or basement. Its not being in the particular physical environment but in that certain state of mind.
The Egg - Walking Away (Tocadisco Remix)
Now I am not totally naive, I know that mental state is usually (and far more quickly) acheived by the assistance of certain narcotics or copious amounts of booze...usually both...but that is not the point of what I am talkin about.
By now you may have downloaded one (or both) of the songs I posted above..and you may see where I am going. If not keep reading.
Wolf & Cub - Thousand Cuts (Phones Slasher Remix)
Now I know right now I am coming off as like some acid induced hippy-esque type, but most of you know what Im saying. Its not about the DJ playing what you want to hear, its about not knowig what the DJ is going to play and just going along for the ride.
Fox N' Wolf - In Yr Underwear (JD Remix)
Of course we all love the hits. I mean "pop music" is short for popular music.
Edu-K - Sex-O-Matic (Solid Groove Remix)
But not knowing can be even more fun. Its being able to let go and let the DJ control your emotions.
Knifehandchop - All Over Your Face
"Control your emotions". Wow, thats border line hippy shit! But it is so true. So listen to the songs I have posted....In a row. Its so spot on. I mean "climax" refers to the same thing in a song as it does in sex. And both can definatley make your fingers and toes curl.
The Klaxons - Atlantis to Interzone
Anyway as I said, when your done reading this ramble, listen to what Ive said and think about it. Music is like the universal smile. It means the same shit around the world. It unites us in crazy drunken debauchery. Its just plain fun. The songs I have posted are from today.
Jesse Rose - Your All Over My Head
The pictures next to them are from back in the day (The Hacienda, Warehouse & Paraidse Garage). Bring this shit together and throw down. These moments are what we "have together". Lets have fun and enjoy it. Stop taking yourself so fucking seriously!!!
Huggtron - Dance
Alot of music was meant to say fuck the world. So when you go out tonight or tomorrow night or whenever, do just that. Dont think about what the world thinks about you, do what you want.
Kissy Sell Out - Keanue Reeves (Grunge Version)
So yeah. This was a long post (thanks to a Sparks Plus...or two). But feel the beats and have fun with it. This is why I love music so much.
Seymours Bits - You Must Be the Bass
Play these songs in a row like a said and feel the fun in it all. Pump your fist and reach for the roof. Thats why we do what we do. Enjoy!!
Alex Gopher - The Dice
I mean for fuck sakes Ive basically give you a dance mixatpe courtesy of me. If you havnt put them all together your douche chilling.
Etienne De Crecy & Alex Gopher - The Overnet

Who knows how many fellow bloggers I have pissed off by posting "their tracks". But for those ten possible people I have made happy that makes me happy numerous folds over. Im sure alot of these tracks may even be "expired on some site, so if you missed them, heres is your chance. If you havnt put it together, Im trying to say its not the competition. Its not the "coolness" factor. Its the community. Its the fun of the party. So just DO it and enjoy. Pzzz
Download the rest of these tracks. Im going to piss the fuck out of other bloggers but I just want every one to have music. It may be old, it may be old, but whatever, right?
The Knife - Marble House (Booka Shade Remix)
Solid Groove & Sinden - Gotta Get Up
Simian Mobile Disco - Hustler
Now I know most of these tracks have been posted, but as I forementioned, I dont give I shit. If you missed downloading them, here is your chance. If you already did download them or just have them, than that cool to. Im just trying to put foward songs as a mass. Play these together. feel them as a whole. Have fun.
Claude Vonstroke - The Whistler
OK so now Im on my last two postings. Please place the tracks from this posting in a play list entitled "Blk:Mrkt" on your iTunes. Listen to it in whole. Im not up on my podcasting shit, so this will have to do. It may not mix exactly how I am hoping for, but either way its hot shit.
Metope - Sekon Skin (Tekel Remix)
But what I have been trying to focus towards is on some Gestalt type shit. The sum is greater than the whole. Everything together is bigger than itself. Put this shit Ive been giving to you. Its making the mix. Can you feel it?

An answer to MIA

And she is from Japan ! Gangster. Her name is Tigarah. Dont get me wrong, still have love for MIA but cant we all agree its exciting to find out others are exploring the unique genre she has carved out?
Check out the two tracks below. I was a bit skeptical myself, but these tracks have grown on me.

What do you think?

Tigarah - Fake Out
Tigarah - Roppongi-Dori
Tigarah - Japanese Queen (ichiBANboshi Remix)
Tigarah - Girl Fight (Hyphy Remix)

The hyphy remix is kinda crazy.

A lil bit more....

Check out the download of this mixtape from Chicago DJ and House music pioneer Ron Hardy from 1983. Thanks to 'Detroit is for Lovers" (see links to the right) for the download.
The quality isnt great, but what can you do with a casette which is 13 years old....well I could probably enhance it but deal with it. Its 45 minutes of classic Garage/Disco music which will bring you back to the days when the Music Box was the place to be.

Ron Hardy - 45 minute mix (1983)

.....access granted........

And Even Older....

Just watched 24 Hour Party People, again, and was inspired to post some Hacienda era tracks. There has been a recent burst of Hacienda mixes (see the EMI release of "Hacienda Classics" selected by New Order's Peter Hook) and below I've put down a few that may have been overlooked (or that I just like more).

The first is from what could have been supergroup 'Electronic' which featured New Order's Bernard Sumner and The Smith's guitarist Johnny Marr. The track "Free Will" is more of a dancefloor dubbed out remix for "Perfect Kiss".

Electronic - Freewill

This dub remix of Australian group, Severed Heads is awesome. A great dancefloor classic.

Severed Heads - Great Reward (Dub Remix)

Two more classics

F.P.I. Project - Rich in Paradise
Where have I heard that piano from? Anyone help me? Great house track.

Kid 'N Play - 2 Hype (Instrumental)
Hip House. What a short lived genre. It served its purpose though. It seemed like everyone dappled in it during its lifetime, from EPMD to KC Flightt. Check out this Kid 'N Play (Instrumental). This would be hot at a real House Party.

A Taste of the Old

Among my all time favorite artist is definatley Aphex Twin. When I heard that his Overlord series was going to finally come out on one comprehensive CD, I was psyched, and when I got it, I wasnt dissapointed. After not really feeling Hangable Auto Bulb, being more of an early years Aphex fan, I was relieved when the more straighfoward techno orientated "Chosen Lords" was released. I'm posting one of my more favorable tracks from the album below.

AFX - Reunion 2 (Analord 5 a)

This next artist I was first turned onto when I heard his dope Fabric (08 i think) mix. Radioactive Man (Keith Tenniswood) is one half of Two Lone Swordsmen, who a few years ago released a compilation of his work dating from the early 90's. A great compilation of British techno, this CD is worthwhile purchase. Check out the tracks below. Also check out the Radioactive Man Fabric mix. Its old but still really good. And speaking of Two Lone Swordsmen, if you dont already have the Andrew Weatherall Fabric mix, that is also a must. Buy them both.

Radioactive Man - Strong Booze [ Transparent Sound Remix 1 ]

Radioactive Man - Uranium
Some good tracks to post today. The new remix of Para One by MSTRKFT is really good. One of their heavier dance tunes which features an awesome rave whistle and awesome building mountain of vocal samples and screeching synths. These guys are in need of dropping a remix album (for more stellar than their solo efforts for sure).

Para One - Dun Dun Dun (MSTRKRFT Remix)

I first heard of WhoMadeWho a year ago when I was still working at DFA. We received the record from the Gomma guys and it was quickly a very popular record. With similarities to Gang of Four and A Certain Ratio, its clear why. Than I began hearing about them again the past Spring. So to be honest I'm not sure whether the following track is off of an older record or a recent release, but its still good.

WhoMadeWho - Out the Door (Superdiscount Remix)

Also with a good streak of remixes and 12"s, I'm feeling this track from In Flagranti. Cheeky disco vocal sample over a dope techno synth. I dont know much about the group, so if anyone can fill me in....

In Flagranti - Genital Blue Room

I ripped the following track from Skull Juice blog. I dont know much about 'Does it Offend You, Yeah?', but this track from them is a killer. Electro synth madness and vocoders. Mmmm.

Do We Offend You, Yeah - We are Rockstars

Im really feeling the following tracks from Get Physical artists Elektrochemie. The first one is their new single, "Dont Go" which features seductive vocals over a minimal house beat. The second track is a remix they did for the new Booka Shade 12", "In White Rooms".

Elektrochemie - Don't Go

Booka Shade - In White Rooms (Elektrochemie Remix)

Cant post the following songs in fear that "the man" may come crashing through my windows the minute I hit upload, but Timbaland has been putting out some fire. Check out "Afraid", "Glow" and "Say it Right" off of the new Nelly Furtado album "Loose" as well as the track he did for the new Busta called "Get Down" (though I'm pretty sure Timbalands got a few tracks with the same name already).

Speaking of the Busta Rhymes album, the enitre thing is hot. First CD I've gone out and bought on release day in a while. Stevie Wonder, Dr Dre and Busta on the same song!! I remember that first Aftermath compilation which came out like 10 years ago and people were doubting Dre post Death Row. "The Big Bang" is a good reminder how far from the case that was. If only he stuck with the Rakim and Rass Kass projects. There is a track floating around there that didnt make the cut for "The Big Bang" called "Whoop" which features Rass Kass. Fire.

Its producers like Dr. Dre and Timbaland who make platnium records, but they also make records platnium. They dont abide by release dates, but rather release dates are accomodated to their liking....Makes me hope the Neptunes step it up soon. Will Pharrell ever release his long awaited solo record? And how about the Clipse. Is "Mr Me Too" just another teaser like the year old "Pussy"...Mmmm

Ring the Alarm!

I was listening to that Gangsta Lee track I posted only hours ago and I just feel the next two just go hand in hand. Its feeling like a block party in Bushwick or a dancehall throwdown in Tivoli District up here in the midwest. Thank fucking god.....This shit is made to drive slow to. Murda dem.

Kenny Dope feat. Screechy Dan - Boomin' in Ya Jeep

Kenny Dope feat. Shaggy - Gunshot

Dont hate on Shaggy on this one. Who would have thought he would later make "It Wasn't Me".....Dern son.

So Im never quite sure when summer is arriving but its fucking hot....like gross, change my t shirt three times, cold showers and hot hip hop tunes to bump while the windows in the ride are down.... check some of these which are actually hotter than the reading on the thermometer.

Kardinal Offishall - Sunday
Always underated, Im bringing this one back from the dutty man hailing from the T dot O. Im sure its even getting warm up there. Drop those windows, hang out with the seeds and enjoy the day of the lord.

Gangsta Lee - Teach dem Gangsta (Hip Hop Gangsta Remix)

Who doesnt wish they were in the islands right now....sitting with your feet in the ocean and a margarita in hand....well the Kenny Dope-ish track will bring you there, but if your not so fortunate, that bass will kill it in the car while in rush hour traffic.

Ghostface Killah - Daytona (Omega One Hi Fi Remix)
I miss my home town, I miss driving through BK doing what I do. Anything from Ghost (and the entire Wu Tang) always remind me of home. This remix in particular is simply just awesome. Im picturing driving across the Williamsburg bridge with the Manhattan skyline on both sides....niiice.

Trique-Dik-Slik feat. Christopher Ras - Mary Jane Too (Blunt Version)
Ummmmm yeah....a great summer activity. A great soundtrack....Dont give me shit, I know its cheesy but dont front. And this doooods name kicks ass...

Grovesnor - Metrosexual

Finally someone who admits it. This speaks to all of those (men) still in the closet.....Come out! Do your hair, look pretty and DANCE for fucks sake (no one really cares except yourself!). Oh yeah, ladies, dont forget to look good to.
OK now some straight foward hipster hop.
There are so many fucking bands out there, I cant really keep track. Im more of a remix fan anyway. Turning rock into something you can dance to (tip your hat to DFA) makes me happy. Thanks to a certain aforementioned camp, along with other remix record releases, the re-edit, re-rub or plain old remix is becoming more of a staple than the normal release. Below are a few tracks which have been tickling my fancy....

Klaxons - Gravity's Rainbow (Nightmoves Remix)

The Rakes - Retreat! (Phones Remix)

Futureheads - Skip to the End (Digitalism Re-Rub)

Clor - Love and Pain (James Ford Remix)

Thank you James Murphy for bringing a rave to the rock party. The above tracks are sure to get your jump off jumping.

Im back again...yes, in the same day. Your going to have to excuse my "blog as you go" method...Im not quite sure how to do everything Im trying to do, so bear with me as I get the feel for things.

So I wanted to post a few more tracks I am really feeling this week.

James Figurine - Ruining the Sundays

A danceable glitch techno jam. Very niiiccce.

Pantone - Zut alore, Je Vous Adore (Falko Brockieper & MIA remix)

A great techno/electro track. Great for getting your summer parties started. Also great for bringing the evening down...your choice.

In Flagranti - Just Gazing (Robag Whrume Remix)

Good track, better filler.
My debut posting was lackluster to say the least, so I am going to make up for it in a good music posting.....here are some tunes I have been feel as of lately....

MSTRKRFT - She's Good For Business

Im totally up in the air about this album. Super hyped in the remix world, I wont lie, I was definatly feeling some of their remixes, and I wasnt disappointed when I got a few of their album tracks. Their second single "Work On You", the follow up to the hipster hit "Easy Love", was equally as danceable, but "She's Good for Business" has definatley got a hot summer vibe to dance your ass to.

Basteroid -Meteorchester

This track is hot. The sounds used are more interesting than the actual track itself. The dark and sinister synths are made even more frightful alongside the playful harpsicord. The addition of the various rave sounds make this a dancefloor killer at say 2AM.

Like many of the epic DFA releases, this is a track which takes you on a fucking mental mind fucking journey from the disco dancefloor to the point when your jumping so high pieces of the ceiling are falling down on you....but you dont give a shit.

Paul Jackson - Souls (Oliver Koletzki remix)

Im also learning, Ive heard a few remixes from Oliver Koletzki and they are all awesome, including this one....especially this one. There are many elements to this remix I am feeling, from the dark synths in the begining to the bouncing drum breaks in the middle. Solid track through and through.

So I'm not going to lie, I've been a total hater. Not in a total player hater type of way, but I've always sort of, well, ragged on the blog world for too long. My ideas of blogs always related to livejournal, the minute to minute trackings of Conor Oberst, and the inner thinkings of overly depressed 16 year old emo kids trying to release their angst into cyberspace. And I still feel the same way, but I realize there is so much more than just that.
Through my site, BLK:MRKT, I am going to mainly focus on music (and a bit on me, because lets face it, there has got to be a tiny bit of egocentricity involved in making your own website).
My taste in music spans through time and sounds. I cannot put my finger on exactly what I like, so I am hoping through this site I can peel off some of the onion skin and allow you into my mind.
I feel as though I need some sort of long written introduction marking my first posting, but honestly, how much does everyone really care? Lets just get shirt started, yeah? Fuckin-A.....
